Day 38 - Legs and Legs

MY JOURNEY

Part of My Identity...

Is tied to strength training.

Ever since my Junior year of high school I have been doing it.

Ever since I enrolled in a weight lifting class and met my guy Paul.

Paul was a man in his 40s, with long brown hair that reached to his mid-back, tied in a ponytail underneath a ballcap most times. His beard reached down towards his chest, and his fingers combed through whenever he was thinking about how to answer one of our questions.

Paul was an old beat-up powerlifter, he wore size 42 jeans that needed a belt cinched tight around his waist because his mid-section was probably a 34. That's the first time that I've seen a man with quads and hamstrings that large.

He taught us how to train, first the big three, Bench, Squat, and Deadlift, then progressed us to other accessory work that we all loved to perform before we put our uniforms back on and showed off our pump as we headed towards our late afternoon classes.

Today made me think about those days.

Pre-Exhaust work on the hamstrings and quads prior to working in back squats.

These are the days that bring me back to why I fell in love with training.

The struggle, the pump, the general soreness that I know is incoming.

This is fun...
