Day 41 - Swim Drills
MY JOURNEY

Swimming Alone...
Today at the local pool.
My wife is working late so after a quick stop to take the dog out and grab my gear, I am off to the pool.
Plenty of open parking at the pool today. Odd for a Saturday afternoon.
I guess the local swim teams thrive on after-school practice and others have opted for the beach.
After a quick check-in at the desk I slip out of my street attire and into my jammers and head out to the pool deck.
Our area hosts a variety of swimmers, with the lanes hosting age ranges from 3 to 83. Maybe even older.
There are a few others training for triathlons here today. All of them seem competent in the water.
All but one.
I toss down my bag, remove my flippers, and find a lane to perform my drills in.
I've actually improved exponentially with my kicks, something to take pride in as I try not to choke down water.
1,2,3,4 breath. 1,2,3,4 breath.
I am currently working through the breath and exhale. I have found the 4 stroke count is helping.
Today I am struggling a bit, losing my rhythm and cadence about the time I hit the 35-40m mark.
It's nothing new, but still just as frustrating.
The sun feels good on the skin though. A solid consolation prize.
I work for almost an hour before finally shutting it down today.
How many more hours until I feel that I am okay...
