Day 51 - Sore Run

MY JOURNEY

My Soleus is still sore...

And it's a multi-variable problem.

The Brooks shoes I have are just too bulky and really aren't made for my feet.

$160 dollars are about to go down the drain.

I head down to a local shoe store and find some minimalist Nike's.

They feel great and the buy one get one 50% is a solid bonus.

I get a pair in black and white before heading back to the house.

Today I have a 30 minute foundation run. A light cruise that is much needed with my sore lower leg.

I start with a fairly extensive warm-up in the house before heading out on the pavement.

Testing out the legs today is the real key. See if I can get back on the horse after dealing with some significant soreness.

I start up the street slowly, my gait noticeably affected.

Soon I am running at a decent pace, trying to slow myself when my heart rate speeds up.

The problem though is that when I slow, I get heel heavy and my soleus takes the majority of stress.

I decide to speed the pace a bit and run intervals for the remainder of time.

5 minute warm-up, 20 minute interval, 5 minute cool down.

I cover 2.22 miles, my legs don't fail, and I move on.

Increases in soft tissue work is on the horizon...
