Day 55 - Run It Down

MY JOURNEY

My Legs Hurt...

That's how we are starting today.

Besides that though, the morning actually is starting relaxed and after a couple of Chemex brews we are on to a local bakery to grab a pastry.

We head towards the water, our dog Birdie hanging out to the window. You can't help but be jealous of the joy a rolled down window gives to a dog.

The water is still today, kayakers and boats already on the water and heading out for a Sunday Funday.

We have some work to do around the house. The renovations are almost complete. Or never complete. It depends on who you ask.

Back at the homestead we work for a bit, have some lunch, then debate about what the weather is going to do so we can pick a proper run time.

It looks like we have some rain on the horizon, the clouds forming ominously off the coast.

Florida storms are somewhat unpredictable during these months. You never know if they will move North of you or dump buckets right on your head.

We decide our best option is to run circles around our neighborhood. Each lap around three quarters of a mile.

I start with a fairly extensive warm-up, my soleus is still getting fired up when I run. Surely my lack of form and jump into volume are the culprits.

I begin the run slowly, trying to concentrate on some form corrections I need. Still the soreness is there.

It's tough for me to go slow with the form, and tough for me to go fast for the heart rate.

After a lap my legs are feeling it a bit, but I continue on.

Lap two down and I'm hurting pretty good.

I decide to just pick up the pace.

I run and walk for the majority of the remaining time. My lower legs feeling beat up but not as bad as I expected.

I find that my best feeling pace is around a 7:30 minute mile. That is where I have to get my foot back underneath me as I cover ground.

After my fifth lap I am finished and begin to walk for my cool down.

45 total minutes, 35 running. 3.31 miles.

Just have to keep working...
