Day 56 - Brick by Brick

MY JOURNEY

My first brick session...

Has arrived.

It's Monday and both the wife and I are finally getting to our first brick session.

The sun is also shining beautifully although there is rain incoming at some point today.

We are beginning to get to the Florida days when pop up thunderstorms are always a threat.

Today, though, we look pretty good to get our training done.

After a morning that involved a few Chemex rounds, a pastry from the local bakery, and few calls for work, we are off to the pool.

It's fairly packed for a mid-afternoon, but a lane is available for us to share.

The water feels unbelievable as I lower into it.

1500 meters is on the docket today and as always I will start with the fins on.

After about 500 meters I switch off and decide to work the last 1000 without any equipment.

The workout is calling for a slower pace, just around 2 minutes per 100 meters.

I am struggling to go this slow, but it is making me be conscious about my breathing.

And my breathing needs the most work.

I finish the session in about 38 minutes, fully exhausted, but feeling good about my progress.

Now let's get home and bike.

After a short 5 minutes ride, mixing up a carb beverage, and setting up Zwift, I am on the bike.

One hour ride today. Let's get it.

The road is flat and I am keeping a good pace.

The goal today is Zone 2 work and I pretty much smash that with just under 40 minutes in Zone 2, and only 6.5 minutes leaking above that.

I finish, wipe the sweat off the mat and bike, and head to the kitchen to start dinner.

Steaks and sweet potatoes tonight.

I feel fulfilled...
