Day 59 - YMCA Swim

The YMCA is great...
For those who engage in a significant amount of travel.
Grab a membership from your local Y and check in wherever you want around the nation.
I have coffee at 8:30 with one of my staff members to go over his growth plan, so I need to swim early.
After some quick caffeine and carbs I head to the Y around 7am.
Today is a relatively quick swim, but I like to take my time as I need to continue the drills and slow pace that my training dictates.
Fins back on. Struggle still real. 25 meters still feels longer than expected.
What is different today for me is the deep end. This is something I haven't had to encounter in the other pools I have been in.
To say I'm scared of water is probably overkill. To say I am significantly uncomfortable is 100% accurate.
I try to stay slow and calm, but can tell by my lack of breathing pattern that I am doing the exact opposite.
After 500 meters I take off the fins and continue on.
Today my finless kicks feel lost and I feel like I am going nowhere.
I finish just over 800 meters before I head back to the locker room to shower and head to coffee.
Not a great day, but I will continue to chip away on my swims. Every rep counts at this point.
After coffee we head to the field to grab a lift.
This is where I should take it easy, but decide to get some heavier legs in.
I just can't help myself sometimes.
My lower back grabs a bit during one of my final sets of squats.
It's not major but it's there and after a quick look in the mirror I can tell the spasm is real.
The rest of the day is some great work with players, more frame tests, and then I'm off to exchange my rental car that has a leaking tire.
The good part? My Nissan Altima has been traded for a convertible Mustang.
I'm off now on a 3 hour drive to Columbia, SC and Summer Strong...
