Day 6 -Making Some Progress

MY JOURNEY

About the soreness..

The alarm goes off at 3:47 am.

Yes, the time is weird, but I love it for some reason.

I get out of bed immediately, no time for snooze because I fear too many alarms will wake the guests sleeping on the other side of the house.

As soon as my feet hit the ground I feel it.

Soreness and tightness in my left calf. Well it seems more soleus than calf, but who's counting?

It's takes a bit for the gait to get right, my lower leg warming up with each step as I get ready for the day.

On the drive to my morning weight training all I can think about is that 45 minute run I have to do today.

Now featuring tightness.

The morning lift goes well, upper body push that includes a ton of shoulder work. Not my favorite.

Two previous shoulder surgeries have led me to dislike pressing, but I know I have to do it to get better.

The work day flies by, and soon I'm driving home, tight calf still riding with me.

I get home, say my hellos to the family, then immediately get out on the run.

My wife knows that yesterday's missed session frustrated me.

The run starts with the feeling of a leg that may not make it.

I keep going, and it loosens slightly with each passing minute. Utilizing my HR to perform run/walk intervals that keep me primarily in Zone 2.

Today I'm enjoying this run. It gives me time to think, and think deeply. I almost forget my calf.

45 minutes later and I finish.

3.46 miles today. Nothing astounding about that, but it leaves me feeling fulfilled.
