Day 9 -Kick & Breathe
MY JOURNEY

Burying myself early...
Is exactly what I did.
The morning weight training session starts later than I want, at 5 am instead of 4:45.
Legs today. A new phase has begun and it is a doozy.
Why did I do this to myself? Because I can handle it.
The warm-up is slower than usual, my 5 hours of sleep last night seeming to catch up to me already.
Caffeine is kicking in too, so let's see which wins this battle.
On to safety bar squats, 20,15,12,10,7,7, with 120 seconds rest between sets. I end at 340lbs for my last set, a far cry from my max but enough to make my legs feel like jello.
On to timed accessory work to further drive my legs into the ground.
Work ends up being brutal today. Problems seem to arise from everywhere. What's new?
I get home around 6 and feed the dog before passing out on the couch with her.
10 minutes later I wake to a phone call from my wife on her way home from work.
Time to swim.
I pack a bag for the gym with my swim gear and we head down the road.
The pool feels way too cold today, but after a few warm-up laps, we're ready to go.
Today I am focusing on my kicks. 400 yards of kickwork with a board.
That...goes...slow.
I'm frustrated. Pissed is more like it. My kicks suck and it seems like I'm getting nowhere.
I finish with 200 yards of freestyle swimming. It doesn't help my attitude.
I need to eat, sleep, and regroup.
Tomorrow is another day...
