The Journey Begins

MY JOURNEY

So I Scheduled a Sprint Tri...

Let's start from the beginning...

So, who am I, anyway? Well, for starters, I'm a guy who loves to compete. I've been competing for the majority of my life.

From playing baseball at a small NCAA Division 1 University (playing is used very lightly here), to competing in powerlifting post-graduation, to being a board and card game fanatic.

But after some time off of competition, I've got the itch again.

I am a strength and conditioning coach by profession. I've worked at two different NCAA levels before joining a professional organization for the past 12 years.

I say that all to say this:

Training Endurance has never been a strong suit of mine.

And as of late, it hasn't even been a thought. I'd rather have 500lbs on my back then run a mile. I can't swim well. My bike skills haven't been off a Peloton in I don't know how long.

So why not just jump in head first and embrace the challenge!

Sprint Tri Date: October 19th, 2025 (31 Weeks)
The Goals:
  1. Sprint Tri Time < 60 minutes.

  2. Be under 8% bodyfat. (Power/kg optimization)

  3. Feel confident swimming.

How we will be tracking this adventure

Every day of training I will be posting an update on the day. Below is what will help quantify the data.

  • Training Peaks app will be tracking my endurance training. (I will be relying on a training structure from 80/20 Endurance)

  • Manual upload of my strength training will be seen in daily posts. (Programming this myself)

  • Tracking macros through the Carbon app

  • Swift for Indoor Biking

  • Wahoo/Garmin app for in-workout feedback

  • Extraneous tech I will be using to track the exact work being done:

    • Garmin Instinct 2 Solar Watch (Swim)

    • Wahoo Trackr Heart Rate Monitor (Run/Bike)

    • Polar Sense (Possibly for the swim)

    • Wahoo Kickr Snap (Swift Indoor resistance training)

    • Wahoo Cadence/Speed Sensors

Now let's get ready for a beat down!
